Student Alliance for Homeless Youth (SAHY), a local organization run by high school students, hosted holiday parties for children living at two family shelters in the Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago on Sunday, December 10. Twenty-one high school students from New Trier, Maine South, and Loyola Academy attended the parties for approximately 60 children.

SAHY planned crafts and games for the children, and presented a holiday gift, which had been purchased and wrapped by  members, to each child.

SAHY members work together to raise money for projects that serve homeless youth in the greater Chicago Metropolitan area. The organization’s three-fold mission is to build awareness of the issue of youth homelessness, help reduce educational barriers, and provide direct and indirect services for homeless children and teens.
