WILMETTE – Several burglaries in Wilmette at the end of February prompted the Wilmette Police Department to issue a crime alert. Here is a summary of the recent incidents:
Attempt Residential Burglaries
Between Wednesday, February 21 and Thursday, March 1, unknown subjects attempted to pry doors at a residence in the 400 block of Sheridan Road. It appears that the offenders never gained access to the residence.
On Friday, February 23 between 9:55 p.m. and 11:20 p.m., unknown offender(s) attempted to gain entry to a residence in the 400 block of Lawler Avenue through the rear sliding door. It appears no entry was gained to the residence.
Residential Burglary
On Friday, February 23 between 3 p.m. and 9:40 p.m., unknown offender(s) entered a residence in the 600 block of LeClaire Avenue by forcing an exterior door. The offender(s) ransacked all the bedrooms and the basement taking USC and jewelry.
Burglary to Motor Vehicle
Between 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 17 and 7:40 a.m., on Sunday, February 18, unknown offender(s) entered two unlocked vehicles that were parked in a driveway in the 1700 block of Elmwood Avenue. The offenders took a wallet.
On Sunday, February 18 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., unknown offenders entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Hibbard Road. The vehicle was rummaged through and $30 in change was taken.
