Could room have been made for one more?

New Trier placed two players — senior guard Kristie Kalis and junior guard Cate Murdock — on the 2016-17 all-CSL South girls basketball team.

A pretty good argument could have been made for the other Murdock: Maggie.

Statistically, it’s hard to separate this talented trio.

Cate Murdock ended up with a 10.9 scoring average. She went 46-for-119 from three-point range (38.7 percent) and 50-64 from the foul line (78.1 percent).

Kalis finished the campaign averaging 8.6 points per game. She connected on 42 three-pointers (36.2 percent), while she shot 78.7 from the free-throw line (48-61).

Maggie Murdock, Cate’s twin, was right there. The junior guard led the squad in three-point shooting (57-136, 41.9 percent) and was third in free-throw shooting (20-30, 66. 7 percent). Her scoring averaged was 8.1.

Cate Murdock also led the Trevians (18-10) in assists (72) and steals (50).

Kalis was first on the team in blocks (21), second in rebounds (126) and tied for second in steals (37) with Maggie Murdock.

Maggie Murdock also was second in assists (60).

NT’s other stat leaders included sophomore forward Taite Ryan (1st in rebounds, 4.6), junior forward Jacqueline Vinson (3rd in rebounds, 2.9; 4th in points, 6.3) and senior guard Katherine Gjertsen (5th in points, 4.5; 3rd in assists, 1.6).
