Dance Theater New Trier
WINNETKA — The Performing Arts Division at New Trier High School is proud to present its spring dance company, Dance Theater New Trier, in concert on April 27-28.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Gaffney Auditorium at the Winnetka Campus, 385 Winnetka Ave. Tickets are available for $7 at the door or online at www.seatyourself.biz/newtrier.
Dance Theater provides an opportunity for sophomore, junior, senior and invited freshman dancers to choreograph and perform their own work under the guidance of artistic directors and Dance Division faculty, Laura Deutsch and Johannah Wininsky.
The company of 55 dancers will present eight student-choreographed works, the product of individual and collaborative work of 12 student choreographers: Mulan Blum, Anna Caffarelli, Cat Connaughton, Bridget Dunn, Tess Durham, Kari Hogland, Caroline Lockwood, Claire McDonnell, Grace Robinson, Brenda Sifuentes, Meghan Smith and Jacqueline Steel.
Select students also have the unique opportunity to work with returning professional guest artist, Alyssa Motter. Throughout the past two years, Motter has created innovative and beautiful dance works for New Trier students as part of an ongoing collaboration. In 2015, she created “Passage” and in 2016 she created “Origin.” Now, in 2017, New Trier is thrilled to present “6 August 1931,” the final section of her trilogy.
