WILMETTE – Wondering what is being built at 1121 Greenleaf Avenue, across from Panera in the village’s downtown area? DailyNorthShore spoke to the Chicago-based developer about the project.
Where a single family home once stood, a four-story apartment building called “Art House Eleven 21” is being constructed. The new building is being billed as a high-end, luxury rental apartment building. The first floor includes 3,200 square feet of commercial space, while the second and third floor feature 14 two and three-bedroom apartments.
There will be 10 three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments from 1,600 to 1,800 square feet, and four two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments, from 1,000 to 1,200 square feet. Tenant parking is below ground, while commercial tenant parking is on the first floor behind the commercial space.
The developers say the commercial space is ideally situated for a restaurant, retail or offices. While not necessarily being marketed as transit-oriented development, its location in the downtown and near the Metra train station makes it a desirable location, according to the developer.
Construction is expected to be completed by early 2018.
