‘Throne’ Ends on 5-1 High

Not Pictured: Jaylen GriffinThe Throne boys basketball team recently placed 5th with a final record of 5-1 in the 9U AAU National Championships DII held from July 8-12, 2017 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.
The Throne qualified for the championship by placing 2nd in the 2017 AAU Central (Illinois) Super Qualifier on June 3-4 at Joy of the Game in Deerfield, IL.

In June 2017, the team started to prepare for the AAU National Championships in Orlando, FL by competing and winning the following tournaments:

• Summer Blast Championships at Libertyville Sports Complex, with a 3-0 record

• Father’s Day Saturday Shootout at Libertyville Sports Complex, with a 3-0 record

In 9U AAU National Championship DII tournament play, the Throne team finished with the following results:

  • 35-27 against Virginia ICE
  • 25-21 against Central Florida Nets
  • 44-18 against Puerto Rico Los Indios de Canovanas
  • 17-34 against MA – Team Delaware
  • 27-26 against MA – Team Big Dreams
  • 33-31 against FL – Rising Stars

Founded in 2016, The Throne team is coached by John Jacobs, Luke Jacobs, and Tyrone Abrams and holds year-round training in the following locations:
