GLENCOE – Student Alliance for Homeless Youth (SAHY), a local organization run by high school students, will volunteer to help with the Fall Harvest at the Glencoe Community Garden, 380 Old Green Bay Rd. in Glencoe, on Saturday, September 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. The Glencoe Community Garden provides fresh produce to area soup kitchens and agencies that serve those in need.
SAHY is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation and is inspired by the belief that all children have the right to shelter, food, education, and freedom from abuse an exploitation. SAHY members, who come from local high schools, including New Trier, Maine South, North Shore Country Day, and Loyola Academy, work together to serve homeless youth in the Greater Chicago Metropolitan area. SAHY’s three-fold mission is to build awareness of the issue of youth homelessness, help reduce educational barriers for homeless children and teens, and provide services to improve the lives of homeless youths.
