Two standout basketball players — Glenbrook South’s Carie Weinman and Loyola Academy’s Ramar Evans, have been named DailyNorthShore.com Athletes of the Month.
Prolific. That’s one way to describe Weinman. The senior guard, a four-year starter for the Titans, is averaging 25.2 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounds (5.5), steals (5.5) and assists (2.4).
Weinman, who currently is battling a knee injury, is the school’s third all-time leading scorer. She will continue her career at the University of Denver.
Meanwhile, you can’t help but be impressed with Evans’ game. He’s a complete player, who currently leads the red-hot Ramblers (10-5, winners of their last five games) in points (12.0 per game), rebounds (7.0), assists (5.0) and steals (2.0).
The Division II Maryville College recruit turned more than few heads at the recent Gulfshore Holiday Hoopfest. He was named the tourney MVP after leading his team to a first-place finish.
Evans is closing in on 1,000 career points. He has 811 points over three seasons and only needs 34 to become a top-10 all-time scorer at LA.
